Pochoir Techniques

Pochoir is a printmaking technique for creating art using stencils and brushes. This workshop will explore the basics of the art form including hand-cutting simple stencils and techniques for using brushes and printmaking inks in a spontaneous and free form manner. The tradition of pochoir has a deep history in book arts and hand-colored prints. Through demonstrations along with one-on-one feedback and instruction, students gain fidelity with how to create compositions in the medium of pochoir, whether representational or with abstract patterns and form. 

A $15 supply fee payable at the first class includes paper, stencil materials, inks, shop supplies and basic brushes for use in class and special brushes to experiment with. 12 hours of workshop instruction and open studio time during the 4 week workshop to advance your projects.

MARCIA PASQUA is an artist-printmaker, teacher, and expert pochoir practitioner. She is a long-time member of Honolulu Printmakers and a Volunteer.

Supplies Participant should purchase or gather from their own studio.
