Topic: This course provides an intensive and fast-paced introductory experience in the techniques, materials, and contemporary practice of the art of screenprinting. You will develop a range of skills in the areas of digital stencil development and learn how to coat, expose, washout, print and reclaim a screen. This course emphasizes digital image processing through the use of Adobe Photoshop, Affinity and Procreate. We will cover basic photo editing for screen exposure, CMYK color separation and halftones. A working knowledge of any of the above mentioned softwares is preferred but not required. There will be lectures, demos, projects and a final critique.

About instructor Rosie Connelly:

Rosie Connelly earned her MFA in Printmaking (2025), Substitute Teacher Certificate (2024) and BFA in Digital Imaging (2021) from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She also possesses an AA in Liberal Arts with a focus in Deaf Education and Deaf Studies from Kapi‘olani Community College. Rosie is currently a Lecturer in the Art + Art History Department at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa teaching courses in digital photography and screenprinting. She also is a substitute teacher for the Hawai‘i DOE and Punahou School, as well as a professional photographer who specializes in wedding and family photography.

Who is this workshop for? No prior printmaking experience is required. A working knowledge of Procreate, Affinity and Adobe Photoshop is preferred but not required.
