Intro to Gel Printmaking with Traci Yoshiyama
Intro to Gel Printmaking with Traci Yoshiyama
Sundays (3 sessions)
August 9th, 16th, and 23rd
1 - 3:30 pm
Course Overview:
Get ready to make some beautiful prints! This three-day workshop is a hands-on introduction to gel plate printmaking, a fun, approachable technique for creating your own prints, patterns, and colored papers using a gel plate and acrylic paint. We'll cover the basics of gel plate printing, color, layering, and masking, then move into pattern-making with hand-cut shapes and real plants.
You'll build a body of prints as we go, and close the workshop with a framed piece to take home. If you've been curious about printmaking, the gel plate is the perfect place to start. It's accessible, anyone can do it, and the practice is built around play and experimentation. No experience required, no art background needed. Just come as you are, ready to explore.
$25 supply fee must be paid in cash to the instructor on the first day, which includes in-class use of an 8" x 10" Gelli plate, paper, acrylic paints, a 6" x 6" wood frame for finalizing the artwork design, brayers and all communal shop supplies.
