Every year since 1933, the Honolulu Printmakers has commissioned a local printmaker to produce an edition of prints that the organization makes available to its members and the public to raise funds for its activities. The Gift Print Artist for 2022 is Pratisha Budhiraja.

Pratisha Budhiraja works in two and three dimensions incorporating printmaking and painting. Her academic and professional experience in the sciences as well as her east-west cultural lens influence her work. Pratisha studied art at Brown University while concurrently earning a BA in Biology. She holds a Masters in Public Health from Boston University and spent 15 years working in health research before returning to visual arts. She has received several printmaking awards in both national and local juried shows, the most recent being an Award for Excellence from the Left Wing Right Brain fund of the Hawaii Community Foundation. Pratisha was a 2014 Artist in Residence at the Zea Mays Printmaking Studio in Massachusetts. She has exhibited at the Honolulu Museum of Art and the Bishop Museum, and her work is in the collection of the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts.

This year the Gift Print was produced in a limited edition of 50 impressions, with profits from sales going directly to support the work of the Honolulu Printmakers as we establish our new studio during these challenging times. The print is pre-sold sight-unseen until the opening of our annual exhibition, after which the price increases. The first and second impressions are retained for archival purposes. Gift Prints will be available for pick up after the start of our Annual Exhibition on October 7th.
