Get your creative ideas flowing by working on 3 jewel like copper plates —of the same size. Create a playful series of images that work together to tell a story. You can rearrange them and trade images with classmates to tell a different story.
Example : Bird, Nest, Egg or Leaf, Tree, Water
This class is perfect for anyone. Even if you are totally new to printmaking!
AND this will inspire fresh ideas for experienced printmakers.
This course will focus on the wonderful world of line quality and mark making using the safest intaglio materials and techniques available today. Baldwin Ink Grounds offer traditional results with less toxicity. BIG hard ground offers fantastic benefits over traditional grounds and does not require any toxic materials for clean up. Traditional representational image development as well as abstract experimentation are encouraged in this course. Copper metal plates with traditional plate preparation and ink wiping techniques will be taught. If you have always wanted to try printmaking or have been away from it a while and want to get oriented to using the new HP studio this is a perfect place to start.
Class supplies available for purchase in the HP studio approximate cost is $25 depending on preferred plate size. Copper plates, printmaking papers, and etching tools are available. You have the option to use your own or buy materials from HP. Supply list will be provided on enrollment.
