Mokuhanga Woodblock Workshop
Instructor: Faith Stone
Technique: Traditional Japanese water-based woodblock printing (no press required). Mokuhanga is a fun and lively printing technique that is totally non toxic and easy to do at home. In this dynamic workshop you will learn how to print using the Year of the Fire Horse blocks that Faith has already carved for you and you will get to carve two blocks of your very own to take home! Faith says you will have a bunch of handmade prints to take home from this one workshop!

Schedule:
Saturday, April 25th: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (w/ lunch break)
Sunday, April 26th: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Cost: Workshop fee is $80 which includes the $40 cost of supplies provided in class.
What You Get:
Two 8x8 Shina woodblocks (yours to keep). $15 each
Two pieces of Pansion washi paper. $3.50 each
In-class access to carving tools, watercolor paints, Sumi ink, student brushes and specialized Japanese brushes.
About the Instructor:
Faith Stone has over a decade of experience in Mokuhanga, having studied under the renowned Hiroki Morinoue. She is a veteran educator known for fostering a creative community in her Colorado-based workshops.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is designed for complete beginners and requires no prior artistic or printmaking experience. All you need is your creativity! Class size will be limited to 6 and is only offered for Residents of Molokai. These programs are supported by program grant. $20 Fee will be taken for any class cancellations to cover our processing fees. No cancellations accepted 7 days before a class.
